CYCLONE HITS WEST BENGAL, 70 KILLED
Kolkata, May 22: A devastating cyclone Amphan killed 70 persons and injured many when it swept a few districts of West Bengal yesterday afternoon. The wind speed was about 155 km/hour. The effected districts were Paschim Medinipur, Purba Medinipur, Kolkata, South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Worst effected areas were Ramnagar, Digha, Contai, Hingalganj, Gosaba, Sundarban and many places of kolkata. As a result of disastrous cyclone, thousands of houses had been destroyed and trees uprooted. The cyclonic wind with very tidal waves lashed the sea-town of Digha. The tidal waves of 8 to 10 feet height flooded the sea-beach. They even flooded the town bringing the main road. There are no peoples in the hotels for Corona virus. The natural disaster has left both water and electricity supplies completely disrupted. The government took immediate steps and relief materials were sent to the cyclone-hit-areas. Money, dry foods, tarpaulins and garments were sent. The relief camp were set up in the effected areas. A plan to repair the damage on an urgent basis is being dawn by the government though the plan may take time to materialize.
