A POOR MAN AND THE 99 COINS

T
here lived a poor man in a village. He had neither money nor worth. But he was very happy. Most of days he could not gathered food properly. Still he remained joyful about singing to himself. He had a neighbor. He was very rich. But he was very unhappy to mind. He had a lot of wealth and great amount of money, huge property, gold etc. So, he was very worried all the time about his wealth. He was always scared that his money, gold etc would be stolen all snatched by dacoits and others. So, he was very envious to see his poor neighbor happy though penniless. He realized that his wealth and money is the cause of his unhappiness. He planned to make his poor neighbor unhappy. One day he kept a bag of money stealthily in front of his door. In the morning when the poor man came out he saw the bag of money. At first he felt very happy to get such a lot of money. He began to count them. After several counts, he was at last convinced that were 99 coins. He wondered, "What could have happened to that last coin? Surely, no one would leave 99 coins!"
He looked every where he could, but that final coin was elusive. He kept the bag hidden and began to watch over it day and night.  As a result he gradually lost his happiness. He was no more cheerful. He became worried how to protect the money and how to complete his collection. He stopped singing while he worked. Witnessing this drastic transformation, the rich man was puzzled. The rich neighbor came to him and told him about the 99 coins. The poor man then realized that the bag of money is the cause of the worry and unhappiness. He returned the money which the rich man had given to the poor man. Since then he became happy again as before.

Moral:~ Money is the root of mental unhappiness
