THE MONKEY AND CROCODILE

A long time ago, there was a monkey lived in an apple tree by the side of a river. He lived alone, but was very happy. One day a crocodile came out of the river. He swam up to the tree and told the monkey that he was traveled a long journey and was in search of food as he was very hungry. The kind monkey offered him a few apples. The crocodile thanked him and asked him if he could visit the monkey again. The monkey said, " You are always welcome". He made friendship with that crocodile. After that, the crocodile started visiting the monkey every day. The monkey gave an apple to his friend to eat daily. The crocodile told the monkey that he had a wife and they lived on the other side of this river. One day the monkey gave him some apples and the crocodile took the apples to his wife. She, too liked it. She loved the apples. She did not believe that her husband, a crocodile, could be friends with a monkey. The crocodile convinced her of his friendship with the monkey. Then, she wondered how sweet the heart of the monkey who ate the sweet apples daily, would be! She requested her husband to bring him home so that she might eat his heart. But the crocodile was not happy about inviting his friend home. So, the wife thought a plan. She pretended to be very ill and told the crocodile that the doctor said that she could get well only if she ate a monkey's heart. The crocodile was stupid enough. So, the crocodile invited the monkey to his home. He agreed to meet his wife. In the mid-stream the foolish crocodile disclosed the secret. The clever monkey told him to take back to the tree, as he had left his sweet heart on the top of the tree. The stupid crocodile became very happy when he heard that the monkey was kind enough to offer his heart without any resistance. The foolish crocodile turned back and swam as fast as he could to the tree. When they reached, the monkey climbed up the tree to safety. After having climbed up the tree, the monkey said, "Go away, you fool. Tell your wicked wife that she is greatest fool as her husband".
