Once two women quarreled over a child. Each of them claimed the child as her own. They could not settle their dispute. So, they went to king Solomon's court. The king was famous for his wisdom. In the court both the women made strong claims for the child. The one woman said, " Oh, my lord, this woman and I lived in a same house and I gave birth to a child while she was in the house. It happened on the third day after I gave birth to a child that this woman also gave a birth to a child and we were together. There was no stranger with us in the house, only the two us in the house. The women son died in the night, because she lay on it. So, she arose in the middle of the night and took my son from beside me while your maidservant slept and laid him on her bosom and laid her dead son in my bosom. When I rose in the morning to nurse my son, behold, he was dead;but when I looked at him carefully he was not my son whom I borne. Then the other woman said, "No! For the living one is my son and the dead one is your son". But the first women said, "No! the dead one is your son and the living one is mine". Then the king told them to tell the truth but in vain.
At last, the King ordered one of his servants to cut the child into two equal halves and give each woman a piece. Then the real mother cried out saying, "Don't cut the child. Let her have a child".The other woman kept quiet. Now it became clear to the King who was the real mother of the child. king Solomon gave the weeping mother her child punished the other woman.
Moral:~ Truth must come out.
