Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi, by name of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi,was a true patriot and a great leader. He was born on October 2, 1869 in Gujarat. Kaba Gandhi was his father and Putli Bai was his mother. After his schooling in India, he went to England to study law. He returned home as a Barrister. Returning to India in 1915, Gandhiji started working for poor peasants and the Harijans. In the age of violence, he fought without arms. He was sent to prison but his long struggle led to freedom. He is rightly called "the Father of the Nation". The apostle of peace, love and non-violence was shot dead by Nathu Ram Godsey. That day,---January 30, 1948 --- remain a day of mourning for ever in India. Gandhi won the hearts of Indians and becomes known as 'Mahatma'
