In ancient Greece once there lived a king named Midas. He had a pretty daughter. He had one serious fault in his character. It was his extreme greed for gold. He always wished that everything he toughed might turned into gold. He prayed to God of wealth to grant him a boon of golden touch. The God of wealth heard his prayer and granted him the boon he asked for. 'O king I shall give you a boon', the God said. 'If you touch a thing, it will turn into gold'. The king was very glad. Whatever he touched was turned into gold. The king was delighted. But the trouble began when he sat down to eat, as he touched his food it turned into gold. He could not eat. At the same time his little daughter came to him. He put his arms around his daughter. Alas! as he touched her, she turned into a lifeless gold statue. King Midas cried out in pain,'O god! take back your evil boon. Give me back my daughter. I shall never want gold'. The God took pity on the foolish king and took back his boon. Midas realized the value of life itself.
MORAL :~ Greed is sure to bring about grief.
