FASHIONS OF TODAY IN INDIAN SOCIETY

India is a multidimensional country with a population of 135.26 cores spread across various regions with different traditions and rituals. Special costumes and cloths have a long history to be observed. Fashions refer a particular style of cloths, behaviour, etc. at a given time or place. Fashions in our Indian society these days are largely determined by the West. The western people particularly actors and actress and sports persons have exerted tremendous impact in shaping up the fashions of our society today. Their Indian counterparts definitely have a part to play in introducing and changing fashions in the Indian society. In our dealing with others we have to observe certain etiquette. When we meet someone close to us we greet him with 'good morning' or 'good evening'. 'Excuse me' is used as an advance apology for troubling somebody. 'Pardon' is polite way of asking someone to repeat something. No social religion and even political gathering can be called without the use of microphones causing a great deal of discomfort to the people around. Secondly, traditional Indian garments have way to skirts, shots, trousers, shalwar kameez and even jeans of all sorts. These are these days used by the people irrespective of their gender and age. Thirdly, giving and going to parties on various occasions have been a major fashion today. In the fourth place, Indians especially those living in cities and towns have developed the habit of consuming fast food, enjoying TV programmes and are fond of living in well-decorated and well-designed houses. Lastly but no less importantly, Indians have become beauty-conscious. Everyone wanting to become elegant and attractive. Large amount of money are spent on cosmetics, perfumes or ornaments. Youths go to health clubs and beauty parlours to look attractive to that real beauty is as much an affair of the inner as of the outer self. Our cultural legacy needs to be promoted so that these surface layers of other societies will disappear and make our Indian culture and developments a Global platform, to maintain this country's cultural treasure alive.
